Newgate University, Minna, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, marked a historic milestone with the investiture of Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, as its Chancellor.

The colourful ceremony also featured the inauguration of Mallam Nuhu Hassan (Mayanan Minna) as Pro-Chancellor, the commemoration of the university’s Founders’ Day, and the unveiling of the Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa Innovation and Business Development Centre (SNIBUD).
Distinguished guests in attendance included former Minister of Power and Niger Delta, Hajia Zainab Kuchi, representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Minna Branch, and delegates from other universities in Niger State, including the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Abdulkadir Kure University, and Edusoko University, Bida.
In his acceptance speech, Gadzama expressed gratitude to the Governing Council, pledging to uphold the university’s ideals and foster academic growth.
“I accept this role as Chancellor with gratitude to the Governing Council, confidence in the leadership of our Vice-Chancellor, and faith in the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students,” he said.
Congratulating Mallam Nuhu Hassan on his investiture as Pro-Chancellor, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria stressed the need for collaborative leadership to advance the institution’s vision.
“Together, we are called not only to preserve the ideals of our founders but to enlarge the vision to make Newgate University a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and character for generations to come,” he noted.
He urged students to dream boldly and take charge of their future. “You may not achieve everything you dream of, but if your dreams are bold enough, you will achieve greatness. Your future is in your hands, and it begins here,” he charged.

The event concluded with the commissioning of the Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa Innovation and Business Development Centre (SNIBUD), designed as a hub for incubating technology-driven ideas and solutions. The Centre aims to nurture job creators rather than job seekers, with the vision of building a Nigerian equivalent of Silicon Valley.
