The Acting Chief Judge of the Cross Rivers State, Hon. Justice Eyo Ita and some Lawyers have contributed money towards the renovation of the Cross River State Customary Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, CrossRiverWatch reports that a donation of over N2 million has been made towards the project. In addition, it added that the Acting CJ is using allowances meant to run his office for the project coupled with contributions from other Lawyers.

The Court is in a state of disrepair and eye-sore which necessitated the need for its renovation.

The building was formerly used as the Federal Court of Appeal before it was gutted down by the fire, leading to the relocation of the Court of Appeal to State Housing and later on, to its permanent site behind the State Secretariat.

However, the building is said to have been part of the relics of colonialism, inherited by the Cross Rivers State Government.

Meanwhile, after the fire incident, it was taken over by the State Government and designated to be used as the State Customary Court of Appeal.
