In a grand civic reception held on December 27, 2024, the Awomukwu Autonomous Community of Abia State honoured Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani, SAN, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to society and his remarkable achievements in the legal profession.

The event took place at Awomukwu High School and was chaired by Distinguished Senator Austin Akobundu, the Senator representing Abia Central in the National Assembly.

The dual celebration marked significant milestones in both the legal and accounting professions, showcasing the exceptional talent emerging from the Awomukwu community. While Dr. Ubani’s elevation to SAN represents the pinnacle of legal practice in Nigeria, Chief Alaribe’s assumption of the ICAN presidency highlights excellence in the accounting profession.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, who served as the Special Guest of Honour. Other prominent figures in attendance included Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma, CEO of Mactuma Nigeria Ltd.; Dr. Goddy Nwabunka, CEO of Grooming Micro Finance Bank Ltd.; and Rt. Hon. Sam I. Onuigbo, South East Representative at the North East Development Commission.

The event also saw the attendance of Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North & South in the Federal House of Representatives, and Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, Chairman of the Board of Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

The Royal Father of the day, HRH Eze Monday Okoro, Ako II of Umuako and Chairman of Ikwuano Council of Traditional Rulers, also graced the occasion alongside other dignitaries.

In his speech, Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani expressed gratitude to the Awomukwu community for the honour bestowed upon him, emphasizing his continued commitment to community development, justice, and good governance.

The event was not only a celebration of excellence but also a testament to the strong cultural heritage and unity within the Awomukwu community. The recognition of Dr. Ubani as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his service to the legal profession remains an inspiration to many.
