A group known as P-BAT Academics and Professionals Group has clarified its position regarding constructive engagement with the governance process in Nigeria.

Speaking at a recent summit, the group’s National Coordinator, Prof Yemi Oke, stated that members are not wailers or agonizers but see themselves as joint owners of Nigeria.

Prof Oke explained that the group is shifting the paradigm from destructive to constructive criticism by proffering alternative, practical solutions to make things better in the country. According to him, “We don’t ‘wail.’ We’ve opted never to agonize but engage the process of governance and put alternative solutions on the table for the betterment of our joint patrimony – NIGERIA.”

To demonstrate this commitment, the Chair of the Law and Justice Cluster in the group, Prof Amuda Kannike SAN, volunteered legal services to lead a team that will review the constitution pro bono in national interest. Prof Oke reiterated that the group comprises independent, patriotic volunteers tired of feeble lamentations before political leaders. He stressed that Nigeria belongs to every citizen.

The P-BAT Academics and Professionals Group sees itself as partners for progress, working with positive-minded government allies through constructive criticism and alternative policy suggestions.
