Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, the Attorney General of Ondo State, has outlined the state’s commitment to transforming its legal and judicial framework during the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) National Executive Council meeting in Akure.

Speaking at the event on Thursday, Ajulo highlighted several key reforms being implemented by the state, including:
– Digital case management systems in courts
– Expanded legal aid services
– New legislation against land grabbing
– Mandatory legal practitioner involvement in land transactions
– Business enabling reform programs
“Ondo State has long been recognized as a beacon of legal excellence, having nurtured some of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal practitioners and jurists,” Ajulo stated, emphasizing the state’s dedication under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
The Attorney General noted that this NBA-NEC meeting marks the organization’s return to Ondo State after nearly fifteen years, describing it as “not merely an event, but an opportunity to rejuvenate the professional camaraderie that binds us as legal practitioners and advocates for justice.”
Addressing the role of lawyers in society, Ajulo emphasized that legal practitioners’ responsibilities extend beyond the courtroom. “We are the custodians of justice, defenders of the constitution, and advocates for those without a voice,” he said.
The meeting, attended by NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal justices, and other distinguished legal practitioners, continues with discussions on pressing issues affecting the legal profession and administration of justice in Nigeria.
The Attorney General urged participants to actively contribute to the meeting’s resolutions and take concrete steps to implement them beyond the gathering, reinforcing Ondo State’s commitment to strengthening its legal framework and ensuring access to justice for all citizens.
