The Olowu of Owu Abeokuta, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu; and a former world court judge, Bola Ajibola, among other prominent people on Wednesday kicked against locating a COVID-19 isolation centre in the Obasanjo Hilltop, GRA, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

They said this in a petition by the Chairman of Olusegun Obasanjo Hilltop Residents Association II, Bishop Reuben Olu-Oke, claiming that the isolation centre would have a negative effect on the residents of the community.

The Olowu, Ajibola and others petitioned Governor Dapo Abiodun over the donation of the property owned by a foremost banker, Fola Adeola, within the area as an isolation centre.

The petition read “We are particularly alarmed as individuals and as community that a non-resident owner of abandoned property, by name Mr Afolabi Adeola, has purportedly donated his property in the estate to be converted to an isolation centre for victims of COVID -19

“Your Excellency, the community comprises retired and aged residents and other vulnerable individuals whose health and well-being would be most negatively affected by the potential conversion or citing of isolation centre in the neighbourhood.

“It is in view of the foregoing that we most humbly appeal to you to use your good offices as the executive governor of Ogun State to cause the immediate stoppage of the use of the facility as COVID-19 isolation centre due to potential health-related disasters that it might cause to vulnerable residents and generality of the community.”
