Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Wole Olanipekun, has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force to investigate a recent publication by the online platform, Peoples Gazette, which he alleges to be false and malicious.

The article in question sought to tarnish Olanipekun’s reputation in relation to his representation of the second defendant, Alhaji Abubakar A. Aliyu, in a legal case (Charge No. FCT HC CR 112020 FRNV. Mohammed Adore SAN & 6 Ors).

In the petition, drafted by his legal representatives, Dr. Joy Musa, SAN, and Olalekan Ojo, Olanipekun emphasizes that the recent ruling in the case, delivered by Judge Kutigi on March 28, 2024, resulted in the discharge of all defendants based on the merits of the case, not due to any concessions by the prosecution.

The petition further clarifies that Olanipekun did not represent Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, as alleged in the publication, but rather a team of six Senior Advocates, led by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, represented Adoke.

Olanipekun underscores his commitment to upholding justice and integrity in his legal practice, highlighting his extensive experience and contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria. He emphasizes the importance of ensuring that justice prevails and calls for swift action to address the false publication and its implications.

The petition urges the Nigeria Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, make their findings public, and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions, as the false publication could have serious consequences for Olanipekun’s reputation and professional standing.
