The chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon Akanbi Bankole gave the charge yesterday during his opening remarks at the commencement of the Budget Defence for the next fiscal year by MDAs at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Bankole while leading other members on the exercise described the yearly budget proposal as a process that required the commitment of all arms of government in achieving its successful implementation. Taking his turn to defend the 2017 budgets estimate, the State Commissioner in charge of Ministry of Information and Strategy, Otunba Dayo Adeneye says the ministry is irrevocably committed to repositioning the State and take it back to its old glory through reawakening of the people to embrace the state’s core values. To this end, it has proposed the sum of N610m as its total budget for 2017. He said that the ministry would make judicious use of the funds to promote the mission to rebuild programme of the present administration. The commissioner further disclosed that the ministry intended to upgrade its Editing suite to fit into OGBC and OGTV digital compliance installation of new equipment like Digital Camera Projectors for monitoring and efficient service delivery. A breakdown of the ministry’s budget indicated that recurrent expenditure stood at N260m; while N200m would take care of overhead. Meanwhile, the management of Ogun State Television has promised to make the television station, the South West Nigeria’s foremost digital medium with worldwide coverage, projecting and sustaining its core values as a pride in the nation. The General Manager, OGTV, Engr. Dele Bolujoko made the pledge while defending the Station’s proposed budget for the 2017 financial year. He said the management of the station planned to provide necessary equipment that would support the analogue to digital transmission migration deadline of 2017 to improve programme production and contents. On its part, Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation says its capital project for the next fiscal year is meant to improve the signal strength , thereby increasing the audience base of the two channels (AM and FM belts) with improved media rating for OGBC I and II among the best three radio stations in Nigeria. The General Manager of the radio Station, Engr. Tunde Awolana, who disclosed this while defending the Stations’ budget estimate for next year, said he had proposed a total of N510m for the fiscal year.]]>
