The Publicity Secretary of the Benin Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association and Candidate for the National office of Publicity Secretary in the forthcoming NBA elections has recounted his experiences in Borno and Plateau states for various official assignments.

According to Ogaga in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, through his experiences he has been able to get further insight on how to use digital information in the management of NBA Publicity.

He described his experience in Plateau state as beautiful and engaging as he anchored the program held by the Nigerian Bar Association in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation for implementation and assessment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Plateau State.

He said: “The program was further aimed to examine the successes and challenges of the ACJL in Plateau State.”

He continued: “It is important to note that the ACJA is applicable to offences by an Act of the National Assembly, the ACJL of the state governs proceedings where offences are tried in the High court of the State that has domesticated the Act.”

He relished moments at the program as it gathered stakeholders from the Ministry of Justice, the Police and other security stakeholders to brainstorm on the implementation and assessment of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Plateau State

He said the primary aim of the collaboration was to “practically examined the successes recorded thus far on how same has been implemented in the State and some setbacks that have beset the implementation.”

Speaking about his experience in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, Ogaga said he met and interacted with the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah, the Attorney General of the State, Mr. Kaka Shehu Lawan, learned silks and also some executives of the Young Lawyers’ Forum.

He explained that an highlight from his short stay in the City was the insights he received from the Chief Judge of the State on the e-filing system used in the state’s judiciary.

“One of the enlightening conversations I had was with His Lordship, Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah with respect to how the E-filing system is working effectively in Borno State.”

He said: “The discussion was an eye opener as it gave me further insight to widen my horizon to be able to use digital technology in managing the national secretariat of the Publicity Hub of the Nigerian Bar Association”

He noted that the knowledge gained will come in handy in ensuring firsthand dissemination of information to all members of the bar as well as improved and seamless collection of data for official use.
