Chidi Odinkalu, a prominent human rights advocate and CGoF, has raised an alarm over a potential court ruling set for next Tuesday, which he says could have serious implications for the ongoing political and legal situation in Kano State.

Odinkalu, through his official X account (@ChidiOdinkalu), stated that reliable sources within the Court of Appeal have disclosed that the court plans to issue an injunction mandating the proposed Durbar by the Chancellor of the University of Calabar (Unical) to proceed, while simultaneously restraining Kano State authorities from interfering.
He expressed concerns that this decision could lead to dangerous consequences for the state.
Last week, Odinkalu noted, a panel of junior justices from the Court of Appeal, including the wife of the main party in the case, had acted irregularly by overturning a previous ruling in favor of the man on the left in the controversy.
The current development seems to indicate a reward for the individual at the center of the legal battle.

Odinkalu called the orders issued last week “irregular to the point of unprecedented,” raising questions about the integrity of the legal process. He further cautioned that if the plan succeeds in Abuja, it could spark significant unrest in Kano, urging the public to stay tuned for updates.
