The interim national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has revealed that former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has expressed interest in the Obidient Movement—a political movement that gained traction in support of Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential elections.

Tanko made the disclosure on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, following a meeting between Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, and Malami at the latter’s office in Abuja.

Posting photographs from the meeting, Tanko wrote:
“Today, the 25th of June 2025, the Obidient Movement has attracted another senior member into the Obidient Movement. This is in his continuation of bridge building and emancipating the Nigerian people from hunger and disdain.”

Although Malami has not formally joined the movement, Tanko stated that the former minister expressed genuine interest in its ideals and vision. The engagement, according to Tanko, is part of broader efforts by Obi and the Obidient Movement to build alliances across political and ideological divides.

The Obidient Movement, which started as a youth-driven grassroots campaign in support of Peter Obi’s candidacy, has continued to evolve as a platform advocating for transparency, economic reform, and citizen-centered governance.
