The absence of an Ebira language interpreter stalled the trial of the alleged mastermind of Kuje bomb explosion, Abdulazeez Muhazab and others at the court. Muhazab was arraigned by the federal government alongside Ishaq Salihu, Mohammed Jimoh, Abdulwaheed Nasiru and Abdullahi Nasiru on charges bordering on terrorism. They all pleaded not guilty to the charge. At the resumed hearing, the trial judge, Justice Abdul Kafarati, informed the parties that the person who used to interpret the proceedings from English to Ebira language was off-duty. “I don’t think we can continue with the matter this morning, because I learnt that the person interpreting the Ebira language was off-duty. And we don’t have any other person to do it for us effectively. I can make a request to the Chief Judge if we can transfer one of our staff from Lokoja division to Abuja so that he can help us to interpret the proceedings to Ebira language,” he said. Justice Kafarati, adjourned hearing in the case to June 29, to enable the court get an interpreter and directed that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.]]>
