A candidate for the office of General Secretary in the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association National Officers’ Election, Nnaebuka Nwaeze, has expressed gratitude to his supporters and called for a post-election audit of the voting process.

In a statement titled “A Note Of Sincere Gratitude,” Nwaeze said the NBA 2026 National Officers’ Election had drawn to a close and thanked his distinguished seniors, colleagues and learned friends who shared his vision of service to the Bar.

He said lawyers were witnesses to what he described as the turbulent nature of events leading up to the election, as well as the unfortunate occurrences recorded during the actual voting process.

Nwaeze, however, said he would refrain from making negative imputations over the election.

He urged that necessary steps be taken to conduct a post-election audit in order to address and settle the questions that legitimately arose during the voting process.

“I refrain from making any negative imputations, but urge that steps be taken to conduct the necessary post-election audit, in order to settle all questions that have legitimately arisen during this voting process,” he said.

Nwaeze also congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, Chief Oghenero Okoro, Esq., Afam Okeke, Esq., and all other successful candidates on their victory.

He again expressed appreciation for the kindness, encouragement, support and confidence he received throughout the election process.

The statement was signed by Nnaebuka Nwaeze, Candidate for General Secretary, 2026.
