*Calls For His Release

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has reacted to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore by the police.

The Police had in Abuja on Thursday reportedly arrested Activist, Sowore of the African Action Congress over an allegation of fake news peddling.

However, Adegboruwa, SAN has warned that nothing should happen to him. He wrote,

“NOTHING MUST HAPPEN TO OMOYELE SOWORE

“Reports reaching me indicate that Comrade OMOYELE Sowore was arrested today in Abuja by policemen for reasons not yet disclosed. He has been denied access to his lawyers and doctors and family members, political allies and comrades.

“Comrade OMOYELE Sowore has been facing trial on account of his lawful campaigns for democracy and good governance. He has been restricted to Abuja where he has been staying for well over four years now.

“Recently, the younger brother of Comrade OMOYELE Sowore was attacked and brutally murdered in very suspicious circumstances.”

The learned silk therefore called on the government of President Buhari to release Sowore from unlawful custody or be allowed to have access to his lawyers and family members.

“I call upon the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to respect the fundamental rights of all citizens, including those of Comrade OMOYELE Sowore. He should be released from unlawful custody forthwith or granted access to his lawyers and family members or charged to court for whatever offence that may be alleged against him.

“The machinery of state should not be unleashed against a single individual on account only that he seeks a better country.

“Enough is Enough!” Adegboruwa said
