Agencies under the ministry are; Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and Nigeria Prisons Service. The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau disclosed this during the formal presentation of the Nigerian Prisons Survey Report in Abuja on Thursday. The survey conducted by the Nigeria Prisons Service in conjunction with Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA) and British Foreign and Commonwealth Office shows that prison personnel are well educated. But the Minister said bagging a Degree and spending a certain number of years in service alone will not qualify personnel to move to the next Grade level anymore. Dambazau insisted that they must do more by acquiring professional certificated on the job they are doing in order to add more value to the society. “I got my PHD when I was just a Captain in the Military but I still had to undergo all the professional training to move up the ladder in my career. “That Degree you have only allow you to think deeply and come up with better ideas but you must undergo training in your job to do well”, he said.]]>
