Publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike of the Court of Appeal, secretly transferred multiple Florida properties into the names of their children using Quit Claim Deeds.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page yesterday, Sowore claimed that in 2023, three properties were transferred to the couple’s children Jordan, Joaquim, and Jasmyne. He further alleged the discovery of a fourth property located at 113 Spring Creek Lane, Winter Springs, Florida.

According to Sowore, the transactions contradict Wike’s earlier public denial that he was aware his wife and children owned houses in the United States. “The international thief has now been caught in his own web of lies,” he wrote.

Explaining the significance of the property transfers, Sowore noted that Quit Claim Deeds are commonly used in family transactions but can also be exploited by corrupt officials to launder illicit wealth by transferring ownership to relatives without raising public suspicion.

“These properties in Florida, purchased with the proceeds of corruption, were quietly moved into the names of his wife, herself a senior judicial officer in Nigeria, and their children. The pattern is a textbook case of laundering stolen Nigerian wealth into U.S. real estate,” Sowore alleged.

He added that under U.S. law, such transfers could amount to money laundering and trafficking in stolen property, offences punishable under federal statutes and subject to forfeiture under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.

Sowore also linked the allegations to Wike’s recent absence from President Bola Tinubu’s UN General Assembly delegation, claiming the FCT Minister had been due for follow-up medical treatment in London.

Wike has not yet responded to the allegations.
