The Council headed by its Chairman, Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onneghen in its 87th regular meeting considered reports of various Investigation Committees against Judges including that of the Delta State Chief Judge, but dismissed his for obvious and manifest lack of merit. The petitioner, Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, proprietor of Explosive Academy, Abraka had in written petition No. 2018/ 101 dated March 21, 2018 alleged amongst others that the Delta State Chief Judge was frustrating the protection of children in Delta State by sitting on transfer application with intent to sublet the administration and control of Delta State Family Courts to child trafficking/thieves in State. The National Judicial Council described the allegations as spurious and unsubstantiated. The committee stated that after considering the facts, it found no merit in the petition and recommended that it should be discountenanced. It noted that the Chief Judge should be commended for setting up the Family Courts in the state to ensure the protection of children’s rights.]]>
