A Human Rights Activist and Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof Chidi Odinkalu has again questioned the judgement of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN on the 2023 general Presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to the vocal activist, the NBA President is taking the Association to rarerified places.

Odinkalu who had earlier accused the NBA helsman of refusal to sign and publish the report of the NBA Election Observer Team tweeted this time in response to an approval by the Buhari Media Organisation of the NBA’,s endorsement of the election process.

Recall that last Friday, on Channels television programme, Maikyau scored the election 75-80%, and unveiled that only 8% of Nigerians rated the election as poor.

This has since generated acrimony within the body of lawyers with many lawyers questioning the interest of the NBA President and the sincerity of the rating given mass dissatisfaction amongst the population over the election’s conduct.

In a tweet yesterday, 9th of March, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu wrote: “The President @NigBarAssoc, @YCMaikyauSAN is taking the association to rarified places!”

The tweet is currently generating responses with one Twitter user @Heyomer writing: “He is speaking for himself not the bar.”
