Ndoma-Egba, who himself was the Leader of the Seventh Senate, said this on Friday in Calabar, Cross River State, when he visited the state executive of the All Progressives Congress, in furtherance of consultations to contest the senate in the 2019 election. He said that today’s National Assembly was confrontational and working at cross-purposes with the executive arm, thus causing the country to suffer. He said, “As our party contemplates another term, the success of the President depends on the kind of National Assembly he has. To achieve great success, we need another kind of National Assembly that will give the President support and that is why I am out for the race.” He told the state APC chairman, Dr. Mathew Achigbe, and his team that he would contest the central senatorial district in the forthcoming election. He said, “It is not about me but our state and the nation. So, I have formerly come here to inform you that I am in the race and for you to bless me abundantly.” In his response, Achigbe said, “Today’s Senate is not the kind of Senate we need and we plead that the next senate president should come from the South-South.” The party chairman told the former senate leader that as an executive, the party was not in doubt of his capability.]]>
