Legal luminary Abdulhakeem Mustapha, SAN, has been appointed to FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, joining a growing cadre of Nigerian professionals holding key positions in global football administration.

The appointments also include Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau, who joins the FIFA Men’s Club Competitions Committee, and football executive Ayishat Falode, named to FIFA’s Media and Communications Committee.

Deputy Chair of FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee, Amaju Pinnick, highlighted the significance of the appointments, describing them as “a reflection of Nigeria’s intellectual capital and strategic importance in international football.”

Pinnick commended the appointees individually, noting Mustapha’s intellect and integrity as vital to advancing FIFA’s commitment to fairness and equality, while praising Gusau’s leadership and Falode’s trailblazing record in media and women’s football administration.

Falode, the former Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, becomes one of the few African women serving on FIFA’s Media and Communications Committee, building on her prior achievement as the first female member of CAF’s equivalent committee.

Pinnick concluded by emphasizing that the appointments represent “a new era of professionalism, integrity, and innovation for Nigerian football on the world stage,” alongside continued collaboration with FIFA leadership.
