The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 61st independence anniversary of Nigeria.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer signed by its President, Olumide Akpata, the NBA said the Association will continue to champion the cause for respect for the rule of law at all levels.
Akpata said, “On this 1st day of October 2021, I join fellow Nigerians in solemnly commemorating the sixty-first anniversary of our country’s independence.
“At a time when leadership failure on several fronts, characterized by scant regard for the rule of law, has produced whirlwinds of seemingly uncontrollable vice and bigotry in virtually all parts of the country, it is a testament to the resilience of Nigerians that this country has remained intact as a corporate entity to witness this day.
“The NBA will continue to champion the cause for respect for the rule of law at all levels even as we urge the political leadership in the country to show its commitment to the peace and prosperity of Nigeria by concrete action rather than recited soundbites.
“Happy Independence Day.”
