The Niger State Police Command has said no bandit is a governor in the state.

The command was responding to reports claiming that a bandit leader, Dogo Geide, had announced himself as the governor of the state.

According to the reports, Geide called for allegiance from communities and assured them of their security and welfare.

The spokesman for the police command, Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Friday, said such utterance only existed in the imagination of the author.

β€œThe command wishes to state categorically with all sense of responsibility that such publication is false in its entirety, and it only exists in the figment of the imagination of the author,” he added.
