The Chief Judge of Abia State, Hon. Justice Onuoha Arisa Kalu Ogwe, has released a new Practice Direction exempting affixing of seals on documents emanating from government ministries.

The New Practice Direction which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) is made Pursuant to Section 174 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), section 10 of the High Court Law, Cap. 96, Volume 4, Laws of Abia State of Nigeria, 2005, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf

It amends the 2018 Practice Direction:

“(1) I hereby amend the Abia State Judiciary High Court Practice Direction No. 1 of 2018 which came into force on 29th June, 2018 as follows:

“a. All processes emanating from the Ministry of Justice and other Government Departments, Ministries and Agencies are hereby exempted from SEALS being affixed on them.

“b. All processes relating to the Correctional Services such as: production and remand warrants are hereby exempted from SEALS being affixed on them”

The new Practice Direction is to take effect from the 30th day of April, 2020
