The appearance of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, at the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria has sparked diverse reactions on social media.

Justice Kekere-Ekun took the oath of office and signed the oath register on Friday at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, pending her confirmation by the Senate.
On Monday, social media users shared a picture showing Seyi Tinubu sitting comfortably at the event. Checks by our correspondent confirmed the authenticity of the image, ruling out any possibility of it being photoshopped or manipulated.
The posts generated a mix of criticism and support from netizens. Some users expressed concerns about nepotism and the country being treated as a family affair. “They have turned this country to a joke, family affair,” commented @Don17488409. Others speculated about Seyi’s future political aspirations, with @BadmusFranca writing, “Don’t be surprised when he becomes a governor tomorrow. He is being mentored.”
However, some users defended Seyi’s presence at the ceremony. @WORLDWIDEFINAN5 argued, “If your father is Nigeria president may you be banished from entering Aso villa like a fugitive, bcoz your relationship with your father is not good doesn’t mean other children don’t enjoy cordial relationship with their father irrespective of their status.”
In October 2023, President Tinubu had cautioned against unauthorized persons, including Seyi, interrupting meetings of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). He specifically warned that such activities must end, emphasizing that only a select few, such as his Special Advisers and Private Secretaries, were granted exception to attend the meetings.
The President’s warning came after he noticed the undue access of people sneaking in and out of the Council, including a photograph of Seyi sitting behind. He had stated, “That is not acceptable. I will announce to you those people who are supposed to be here.”
