According to the NBA President, “The NBA has become a globally respected brand; and in maintaining this high esteem accorded the NBA by both local and international organisations, it has become imperative to seek the support and collaboration of government agencies, institutions and other development partners for the #NBA2018AGC, scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja, from August 26 – 30, 2018”. Speaking on the theme of the #NBA2018AGC, “TRANSITION, TRANSFORMATION and SUSTAINABLE INSTITUTIONS; during the visit, the President said, “We have invited Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo as the Keynote Speaker. The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has also been invited. Last year, we had the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON who had an interview on the investment climate in Nigeria and other issues with the CNN presenter, Zain Asher, as one of the significant features of the spectacularly successful conference. Our sessions were broadcasted live across the world on a dedicated DSTV channel”. He buttressed further that; “for the #NBA2018AGC, the NBA has partnered with the British-Nigeria Law Forum (BNLF), the Bar Council of England and Wales, the American Bar Association (ABA) and other Bar Associations from across the continent. This is because in the last two years, we have focused our attention on building the NBA as a tool for reforming organisations and the legal profession with support from various partners. We see the NBA as a critical partner, not only in the transformation of the legal profession, but also in the establishment of the rule of law in the country. Hence, we are looking at partnering with all stakeholders for support to embark on this transformative journey.” To have another outstanding record at this year’s conference, the NBA TCCP is headed by a renowned commercial lawyer, Mr. George Etomi, FNIALS, who is determined to lead the team to further re-establish the NBA brand. The NBA President further utilised the opportunity to elaborate on other ongoing public interest engagements initiated and driven by the NBA through its “North-East” and “Niger Delta” Task Force Committees; and informed the Honourable Minister of the importance of the courtesy visit, which is; to seek support and establish a confirmed partnership with the institution in making the forthcoming #NBA2018AGC a success, to identify with the NBA aspirations and to render any assistance by being part of the technical sessions as well as support in terms of sponsoring some of its activities.
