A member of the NBA Welfare Committee and Candidate for the Position of NBA Welfare Secretary, Auta Nyada Esq has promised to bring about the improvement of the NBA-NHIS Scheme by introducing virtual medical consultation if elected.
In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Auta stated that lawyers had to protect themselves for their benefits and the benefits of those connected to them. According to him, one of such protection needed by lawyer was the protection of their health to feel invisible. “Lawyers do what they do in order to eliminate or minimise vulnerability for themselves/clients/society and it’s attendant bitter consequences.
When one’s health fails or is failing, the chances of being susceptible to the butts of life shoots up.
That explains why the young and healthy feel invincible. They are more daring in approach and bold/confident in carriage.
But life does not come with the guarantee of good health. Neither can the quality of one’s genes be legislated upon.” He stated.
Mr. Nyada went on to express his optimism of improving the system for managing the health o lawyers, stating that a reliable insurance was the answer. His statement read in part thus: “The foregoing notwithstanding, we can work/improve on a trust-worthy system to manage ill health, and inject a large dose of dignity into the way an ill Lawyer is treated. The answer is to have a bankable health insurance scheme tailored to the dynamic health needs of Lawyers.’
He stated that he had experienced the devastations ill health can cause. How it takes a toll on the finances and psyche of even the best prepared persons. According to him, he should know since he nursed a terminally ill father.
This experience according to Mr. Nyada gave the vision to improve the existing NHIS Scheme by introducing VIRTUAL MEDICAL CONSULTATION
Remarking further on the significance and importance of his vision, he stated thus: “Nyada Auta knows that a health insured Lawyer is more confident, and a confident Lawyer changes the world.”
According to him, this qualified him to be the preferred choice for NBA Welfare Secretary.
He went on to urge the NBA members put their vote were their ‘confidence’ will be best protected.
