The Owerri branch of Nigerian Bar Association in condemning the recent invasion of the Chief Magistrate Court, unlawful arrest of lawyers at Ngor Okpalla LGA, Imo State by the DPO and his men on 19th July 2018, Thursday has reiterated that they will be boycotting the court from Monday 23rd to Wednesday 25th July, 2018. This was confirmed by the former chairman of the branch, Mr Lawrence Nwakaeti in a chat with The Nigeria Lawyer (TNL). The Nigeria Lawyer (TNL) also gathered that this incident was the second since 2016/2017 judicial year by the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ngor Okpala. The action of the DPO is undoubtedly both contemptuous and disruption of administration of justice. The threats and verbal abuses on the Chief Magistrate which were filled with hate come under the extant law on hate speech. ]]>
