The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kebbi State Branch, has cautioned its members to avoid travelling to nine local government areas identified as kidnapping hotspots in the state.
In a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the Branch Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Hassan, listed the affected areas as Bagudo, Suru, Kamba in Dandi, Bunza, Kangiwa in Arewa, Dirin Daji in Sakaba, Ribah, Kanya, and Augie local government areas.
Hassan said the advisory followed an emergency meeting convened by the association on Saturday to deliberate on the recent abduction of one of its members, Mr. Isyaku Muhammad-Danjuma, who was kidnapped last Wednesday along the Ibeto–Birnin Kebbi route in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
The association strongly condemned the abduction and expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in Kebbi and other parts of the country.
“The safety of our members is paramount. We urge everyone to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to areas identified as insecure,” Hassan said.
He further appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted lawyer and address the rising spate of kidnappings across the state.
