*Rochas Okorocha Set To Deliver Keynote Address

The Nigerian Bar Association, Kano branch has released the programme of events and dignitaries to feature in its 2022 Law Week.

In a memo made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the Law Week Committee outlined the various activities designed to feature in the week and the dignitaries slated to be in attendance.

The first day of the Law Week shall mark the arrival of guests, opening remarks by the branch Chairman, Aminu Sani Gadanya Esq., and a welcome address by Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahin, Esq. who is the Chairperson of the Law Week Committee, 2022.

Afterwards, the session shall be declared open by Gov. Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, the Executive Governor of Kano State, with Sen. Owelle Rochas Okorocha billed to deliver a keynote address on the topic “Justice and Rule of Law: The Missing Elements in Nigeria’s Quest for Security and Stability” immediately after.

The Afternoon session shall be graced with a panel session which would address the Topic “Challenges of Judgement Enforcement in the Kano State Judiciary: A Comparative Overview of Lagos and F.C.T. judiciaries’ Modus Operandi”.

This panel session shall be chaired by Malam Yusuf Ali SAN and will feature Afam Osigwe SAN, Mallam Nureini Jimoh SAN, Hon Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu, Prof. Mamman Lawan SAN, Chief Emeka J.P. Obegolu SAN (Ph.d) and Dr. Nasiru Adamu Aliyu SAN.

Day Two of the Week shall again see the Law Week Committee Chairperson, Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim deliver a welcome address from whence the first panel session shall commence.

The first panel session for Day Two will shed light on “Lawyers in the Nigerian Economy: Opportunities and Roles in Relation to Nationhood, Democracy and Rule of Law.

This session would be shared by Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, A.B. Mahmoud SAN and shall have J.S. Okutepa SAN, Sir Steve Adehi SAN, Hon. Justice Safiya Badamasi SAN, Babatunde Ajibade SAN(Ph.d), Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN and Dr. N.A. Ayagi as panellists.

The second panel session shall speak on the topic: “Challenges and Prospects of E-Adjudication in Post Covid Era in Nigeria”.

This session shall be chaired by Haj. Fatima Kwakwu MFR, and shall feature Y.C. Maikyau SAN, Abdul Muhammad SAN, Hon. Justice Nasiru Saminu, Sadiya El-Rufai, Ibrahim Salihu Baba Esq. and Sani Musa Esq.

The topic of this year’s law week is “Legal Practice at Crossroads: Challenges of Lawyering in the Face of Nigeria’s Current Political and Economic Climate” and shall kick of on Saturday, 19th March, 2022.
