The Nigerian Bar Association Gwagalada branch, Abuja (known as the Eagle Bar) is set to mark its 10th anniversary on Wednesday, 13th of July of 2022.

As preparations for the anniversary celebration hit topgear, the branch has mapped out activities for the commemoration which will hold at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagalada, FCT by 10am.

This detail was contained in an address made by the Chairman of the 10th Anniversary Committee, Alhaji I. G. Haruna Esq.

While reeling out the series of programmes specially lined up to mark the day and the occasion, Alhaji Haruna, stated that the theme of the 10th anniversary cum Honour celebration is “Honouring the Past, Celebrating the People, and Preparing the Future”.

He made these remarks immediately after his inauguration as Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee. In his acceptance speech, Alh Haruna pledged his resolve and total commitment to carry out the assignment with high sense of diligence and responsibility. The Committee Chairman also used the opportunity to commend the Tayo Ogunjide led new Executive Committee for hitting the ground running by organising the 10th anniversary. Describing it as a mark of seriousness in the ideal of turning things around positively for the Branch, he added that the cheering development is coming barely less than one month of their assumption of office into Gwagwalada NBA leadership.

During the inauguration, the Chairman of the branch, Emmanuel Tayo Ogunjide (ETO), charged the Committee and the entire members of the Branch to see the occasion as an avenue to appreciate the goodness of God to the Branch and its members and friends in the first ten years of its existence. He stated that celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Eagle Bar had become imperative in view of its revered status as a high flier and a force to be reckoned with among NBA Branches.

While specifically emphasising the need for the Eagle bar, Gwagwalada branch to reaffirm its commitment to excellence, professionalism, and valued services to God and humanity, Mr. Ogunjide congratulated all members of the Branch for the grace and opportunity to celebrate the achievements and relaunch for greater successes.

He also announced that His Lordship, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, the Chief Judge, High Court of the FCT will grace the occasion as the Chairman of the occasion, while Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, Senior Partner, Law Forte Legal Practitioners, Abuja, will deliver the Keynote Address. Other distinguished personalities are expected to play the roles of Special Guests of Honour.

Special activities lined up for the day, according to him, include presentation of Awards of Honour to some Leaders and Elders of the Branch, as well as other notable and distinguished members of the legal profession for their invaluable contributions and support to the growth and development of the branch since its creation in 2012. Other highlights of the one day anniversary ceremony also unfolded by Mr Ogunjide include investiture and official decoration of the Doyen of the Eagle Bar, Grand-Patron, Patrons and Patronesses of the NBA Gwagwalada branch.

The programme marks the 10th anniversary of Eagle Bar, which just in its first decade as a Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has secured a frontline position as a vibrant and performing Branch. The leadership and membership of the NBA Gwagwalada Branch are, therefore, inviting members of the legal profession and the society at large to join as they celebrate this important milestone and forward-focus on another decade of highest excellence and remarkable development.
