Frontline candidate for National Welfare Secretary of NBA Ikechukwu Maximus Ugwuoke has extolled the Olumide Akpata led Leadership of the NBA on kick-starting a finance scheme for lawyers who may need loans for their working capital, operational needs and other purposes required for the professional development and career advancement of individual members of the bar.
This commendation is coming at the heels of the recent signing of MOU between the NBA and two commercial Banks, First bank Plc and Access Bank Plc on the project. According to Ugwuoke “the signing of the MOU that midwifed this laudable finance scheme is indeed a commendable parting legacy gift of the Olumide Akpata led administration of the NBA to Nigeran Lawyers.
This scheme which is structured to give lawyers that meet the criteria access to up to N2 Million loan at a single digit interest rate of 9% per annum is particularly significant as it shelves the qualifying applicants the rigors of obtaining loans from elsewhere and the it’s associated throat- cutting interest rates.
The scheme meets the yearnings and aspirations of many lawyers especially the young lawyers whose nightmares were usually where and how to obtain startup capital. The scheme is indeed a welfare life line for all categories of lawyers in time of financial needs.
Olumide Akpata has always shown capacity in leading the bar and has achieved so many milestones that meet the expectations of the bar. His legacy projects need to be sustained and it is my desire to be part of the incoming team that will see to its sustenance”
