*As Gadzama Reiterates Commitment To Mentorship Of Young Lawyers
The EXCO and dozens of members of the NBA Bwari Branch (Cradle Bar) on Tuesday, 10th August, 2021 paid a courtesy visit to the former Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch, J-K Gadzama, SAN at the J-K Gadzama Court, Abuja where the branch identified with him. The NBA Bwari delegation led by Mr. Monday Adje (Branch Chairman) comprised of Mr. Obinna Amorha (Vice Chairman), Dr. Emmanuel Olowononi (Branch Secretary), Mr. Chukwuemeka Clement (former Branch Chairman), Mr. B. O. Nafagha (Branch NEC Rep), Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwu (Treasurer), Mr. Owowo Caleb (Asst Secretary), Mr. Paul Daudu as well as other members of the branch including senior and young lawyers.
The former Chairman of the branch, Mr. Clement (popularly known as Democrats) appreciated Mr. Gadzama for always being there for the branch as a father figure. He also thanked Chief Gadzama, SAN for absorbing a significant number of new wigs into his firm as trainee Associates to cut their legal teeth. Democrats, as he is popularly known, went ahead to formally introduce the newly elected Chairman of the branch, Mr. Monday Adje who in turn introduced other members of the Executives.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the cradle bar, Mr. Monday Adje noted that Chief Gadzama, SAN was one senior lawyer whom they have been following his footsteps. He highlighted some of the antecedents and continuous contributions of Mr. Gadzama who he described as one who has consistently served and supported the bar in many capacities for a very long time. He acknowledged and appreciated the learned silk for his untiring efforts and unwavering support towards the branch over the years. He prayed that God will give the learned silk the grace to continue to do more. The Bwari branch Chairman pointed out that the branch deliberately chose the courtesy visit to Mr. Gadzama as the very first courtesy visit that the branch under the new administration will undertake.
The Chairman of the branch intimated Mr. Gadzama of the branch’s upcoming branch meeting and solicited his support in hosting the meeting which will be the first under the new administration. Mr. Adje also highlighted some other needs of the branch, which he requested the NBA pioneer golf captain to assist with, to include befitting branch secretariat, 18 seater branch bus and mentorship/placement of the branch’s young lawyers for tutelage.
Reacting, Gadzama welcomed the delegation to his firm and stated that it was his joy to see the Bwari branch continue growing especially as a former Chairman of NBA Abuja branch from which Bwari branch was created. He encouraged the branch EXCO to continue to do more. He also reiterated that young lawyers must be empowered, appreciated and mentored by the seniors. Further speaking, he described young lawyers as leaders and charged them to ensure that their impact is felt anywhere they find themselves. Gadzama also expressed delight that the branch had officially adopted ‘cradle bar’ which was an idea that came from him.
On the branch’s request for hosting of its maiden meeting under the new EXCO, the Pioneer NBA-SPIDEL Chairman accepted to do so by providing all that will be needed to successfully host the meeting scheduled for Friday, 13th August, 2021. On the branch’s request for mentorship of its members, Gadzama commended the initiative and assured the branch that its members will be considered for internships and firm placements for grooming and mentoring of young lawyers. He emphasized that he will continue to do his best in the area of mentorship of young lawyers which he described as a key matter dear to his heart. He appreciated the Bwari team for the visit and charged the lawyers present that with hard work; they can achieve their dreams and attain high heights in the profession.
The Secretary of the Bwari Branch, Dr. Emmanuel Olowononi gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the EXCO and members of the Bwari branch. He appreciated the learned silk for his generosity, time and commitment towards the branch. He also thanked the Body of Benchers mentoring Committee Chairman for his commitment towards providing viable platforms for young lawyers to grow and develop.
