Leaders in the country have been advised to eschew hate speeches, divisive comments especially in the media but should rather unite to face the serious challenges bedeviling the country.

The advice was given by the newly elected and inaugurated Chairman of Bauchi Chapter of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Jibrin Sa’id Jibrin in a press release issued to Journalists over the weekend.

He asserted that for the country to succeed in terms of the pursuit of development, citizens must be the change they want around them adding that both the leaders and the led should rededicate themselves to building the nation.

The NBA Chairman stated that “This means that hate speech, inciting, divisive comments, abuse of the right to use the social media and all other criminal conducts must be eschewed by citizens.”

Jibrin Jibrin added that “We have to continue to relate well with one another and all authorities in facing the serious challenges we are facing as a people.”

He further reiterated the call for a speedy conclusion of the process of granting financial autonomy to the judiciary and the legislature for the betterment of democracy in Nigeria.

The chairman finally rejoiced with the Muslim ummah in the state on the recent Sallah festival describing the event as sacred in Islam.
