NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch Endorses Gbemiga Adaramola For NBA National Welfare Secretary, Says He Is The Ideal Candidate

*Gives Past Achievements And Antecedents As Grounds For His Endorsement
*Obafemi Adewale SAN Says Adaramola Is Very Qualified

The NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch has endorsed a former past chairman of the Branch, Gbemiga Adaramola Esq as her sole candidate for the office of the NBA National Welfare Secretary.

This was made known through a letter made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, dated 17th June, 2022 and signed by the chairman and secretary of the Branch, Adeyemi Adewunmi Esq and Oluwatobi Ogunbiyi Esq respectively.

The letter which was addressed to all Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Senior Members of the Bar and all Members of the NBA, stated that Adaramola had been adopted as the sole candidate of the Branch for the position of the NBA National Welfare Secretary during the her statutory monthly general meeting held on the 16th of June, 2022.

The motion for adoption was moved by Past General Secretary of the NBA and Member, Board of Trustees, NBA, Obafemi Adewale and seconded by the Past Branch Secretary, NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch and Pioneer Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch, Temidayo Azeredo Esq. The motion was consequently ratified and adopted by the whole house.

Whilst moving the motion, Obafemi Adewale SAN who is also a Life Member of the National Executive Coucil [NEC] of the NBA, described Adaramola Esq thus: “as indisputably qualified for the position of National welfare Secretary going for his track records, wealth of experience and antecedents, especially as it pertains to welfare of lawyers both within and outside Ekiti State.”

The letter went on to outline the past positions Adaramola Esq had served under thus:

1. He was former Treasurer of the NBA, Ado-Ekiti from 2002-2007
2. He served as the Branch secretary of the NBA, Ado-Ekiti Branch for 3 consecutive terms, from 2007-2010, 2010-2012; and 2012-2014 respectively.
3. He was a Past Vice Chairman of the NBA, Ado-Ekiti Branch from 2014-2016.
4. He was a former Chairman of the NBA, Ado-Ekiti Branch from 2016-2018.
5. He was a a National Executive Council (NEC)Representative for the NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch between 2018-2020.
6. He was a National Executive Council (NEC) Member of the Nigerian Bar Association from 2007-2014 & 2016-2020.
7. He served as Chairman and/or member of many Committees both at the Branch and National Levels of the NBA.

Remarking on reforms he brought whilst in serving capacity, the Branch cited an instance where as Chairman of the Branch, Adaramola Esq reduced all the dues payable by members of the Branch by 50 Per Cent (50%) across board and this influenced successive administrations to maintain same. The letter also sighted when during his tenure as Chairman, members won key items that aided its welfare such as Toyota Camry Cars, Complete sets of laws of the Federation of Nigeria (2010) edition, amongst many others, during the raffle draw of the Law Week Celebration of the Branch in years 20q7 and 2018 respectively.

According to the Branxh, Gbemiga Adaramola Esq was also known to have sponsored the payment of Ten (10) young lawyers for the annual general conference and the payments of the Bar practicing fees for young lawyers, and even secured a brand new KIA Cerato Car as the official car of the Branch chairman which was still in use.

Thus, the Branch stated that it was premised on all these foregoing that it was adopting Adaramola Esq as the her sole candidate for the position of the NBA National Welfare Secretary in the forthcoming NBA national elections.

“Gbemiga Adaramola Esq is no doubt the desirable candidate for the office of the National Welfare Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association.” The letter said.
