The NBA Abuja Branch in partnership with Hygeia HMO introduced the Lawyers Health Insurance Plan as a welfare intervention to provide quality and easy access to medical services to members, their loved ones and staff.

The Scheme is going into its 5th year with subscribers expressing satisfaction with Hygeia HMO’s premium services and stellar customer care. With access to more than 1,400 healthcare service providers nationwide and over 140 providers in the FCT, over 1,000 souls have benefitted from the Scheme thus far.

From the Chairman’s report, 92% of the total population utilized the scheme with an average of 8 visits per subscriber in the 2021 Policy Year. The top 5 procedures in terms of cost were: Diagnostics, Surgery, Pharma, Medical Consultations, Accommodation. While the top 5 conditions enrollees visited the hospitals for in 2021 were: Maternal Conditions, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Screening Visits, Digestive System Diseases and Respiratory System Infection.

The report further states that the highest demographic registered on the scheme are in the 31-40 age-range.
During the year in review, 7 babies were born under the scheme. They are hale and hearty.

The Chairman said the Lawyers Health Insurance Scheme has positively impacted lawyers immeasurably. He encourage more lawyers to take advantage of the Scheme while stressing that “health is wealth”.

The NBA Abuja Branch Lawyers Health Insurance Plan has changed the narrative surrounding the health and welfare of lawyers in Nigeria, thanks to the laudable initiative of the Ezenwa Anumnu-led EXCO which was well sustained by the Folarin Aluko-led EXCO.

The Report states that due to inflation and the increasing costs of doing business in Nigeria, the premium has been adjusted to N39,999 per subscriber, per annum, a slight increase from the current rate.

The current term ends on 14th January, 2022 and a new term begins on the 15th January, 2022. To this end, new and intending subscribers can request an application form and payment details by sending a request to medicare.nbaabujabranch@gmail.com
