The National Assembly Service Commission has confirmed the appointment of Ibrahim Sidi as the substantive Clerk of the House of Representatives, bringing his tenure in an acting capacity to an end.

The confirmation was approved on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, during the 31st meeting of the sixth National Assembly Service Commission held at the Commission’s Conference Room in Abuja.

The decision was announced in a statement signed by the Commission’s Director of Public Affairs, E. N. Anyigor, on behalf of the Executive Chairman.

The Commission also confirmed the appointments of five other senior officers serving in key departments of the National Assembly bureaucracy.

Those confirmed are Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi as Secretary, Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations; Asien Fatima Nana as Secretary, Zonal Liaison Offices; and Engineer Bashir Layya as Secretary, Estates and Works.

Others are Siyaka Wahab Sadiq as Deputy Clerk, Legislative, House of Representatives, and Dauda Bulama Bukar as Deputy Clerk, Administration, House of Representatives.

The confirmations formalised the appointments of the officers who had earlier been elevated to the respective positions in acting capacities pending substantive approval by the Commission.

Sidi was appointed Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives in January 2026 and assumed office on February 9 following the retirement of his predecessor, Dr Yahaya Danzariya.

He has since supervised the administrative and procedural affairs of the House, including the coordination of legislative business, documentation and institutional support for lawmakers.

As the substantive Clerk, Sidi will serve as the highest-ranking administrative officer of the House of Representatives and oversee the chamber’s day-to-day parliamentary administration.

The simultaneous confirmation of Sadiq and Bukar as Deputy Clerks for Legislative and Administrative matters is also expected to strengthen the management structure of the House.

Ihua-Maduenyi will oversee protocol and inter-parliamentary relations, while Nana will coordinate the National Assembly’s zonal liaison offices.

Layya, as Secretary of Estates and Works, will be responsible for matters relating to infrastructure, facilities and works within the National Assembly.

The appointments are expected to provide stability, continuity and stronger administrative support for the legislative activities of the National Assembly, particularly the House of Representatives.
