Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule has declared 24- hour curfew in Karu local government area of the state effect from 2nd April 2020 for 14 days in the first instance.

Sule, who stated this on Wednesday, while addressing journalists at the Government House, explained that the measure was to curtail the spread of the virus given the proximity of Karu local government to Abuja.

According to him: “Enforcement of a 24 hours curfew in Karu local government area with effect from 6pm of Thursday 2nd April 2020 for 14 days in the first instance.

“Entry into Nasarawa state is hereby restricted to between 6am and all persons coming into the state shall continue to be screened at the designated checkpoints/mobile clinics

“Movement in Lafia, the state capital and other urban centers are hereby restricted from 8pm to 6am with effect from Thursday 2nd April.

“All markets are to remain closed except sellers of food items and medicament outside the markets except in Karu LGA where there is a 24 hours curfew.

“All civil servants from GL 1-12 are to remain at home except on essential service until further notice.”
