Videos and eyewitness reports circulating on social media showed physical altercations among supporters, prompting widespread outrage. The alleged thuggery occurred within the premises of the tribunal, raising questions about security arrangements during such high-stakes proceedings.
Critics have pointed fingers at law enforcement agencies, accusing them of turning a blind eye to the violence. A user on social media lamented, “With the police and army doing nothing. If it was a peaceful protest, they would have killed, detained, and prosecuted people for treason. Sad reality within the premises of a tribunal!”
Amid the chaos, many are questioning why the tribunal proceedings remain in Edo State instead of being relocated to Abuja or another neutral venue. Concerns about impartiality and safety for all parties involved are growing louder.
