The ultimatum was handed out yesterday by the chairman, Public Account committee, Hon. Kingsley Chinda at an investigative hearing based on the report of the Auditor General of the Federation from 2010 to 2013. In the report, the auditor-general who raised 55 queries against the Nigeria Police Force during the period, informed that an audit examination of arms and ammunition in 2012, showed that four different brands of pistols were missing. It also said that cash exhibits of N928,000 was missing in 2011; N100,000 in 2012 and N720,000 and a laptop worth N250,000, totaling N1.998 million, were missing. Responding, the Director of Finance of the Nigeria Police, Mr Aliyu Oba,who was in the company of Chief Superintendent of Police, J.O.Egbunike told the committee that the police had substantially complied to the directive of the committee by furnishing the Secretariat with relevant documents. But the chairman of the committee countered noting that “Most of the information provided to the secretariat were not in order and there’s a need for you to liaise with the Secretariat and make relevant corrections.” The lawmakers also berated them over claims that an officer who the committee found to be deceased, refunded exhibit money of N1.9million as directed by the committee last November.]]>
