*Organizes Send-Forth Ceremony For 2022 Law School Externs
*Says It Received and Trained 18 Externs From Nigeria Law School This Year
*Appraises Dedication And Vibrancy Of The Interns

The Law Firm of Maxwell Opara and Associates (Chibunnam Chambers) has organised a passing out party for the Nigerian Law School Externs posted to the Law Firm as part of the Council of Legal Education Externship program for this year.

Describing the spell of the externs at the firm as productive, the Founding Partner, Maxwell Opara Esq . explained that 18 interns were posted to the firm this year, and narrated his reluctance to accept all of them owing to the capacity of the firm.

He said: “For some years now, Nigerian Law School has been posting Law Students to the Law Firm of Maxwell Opara & Associates (Chibunnam Chambers) in Abuja. As part of our contribution to the training of Aspirants to the Nigerian Bar, which is one of the focus/agenda of the Law Firm, we receive and mentor them. This year, we received 18 of them and due to our office capacity and in other to manage and train them proper in line with the directives and guidelines of the law school, I decided to slash the number to at least 10.

Now the question is “who among them are we going to reject? and what criteria are we going to apply the screening them out?

Having discussed and informed them of our challenges to retain all of them, we advise that some of them should go back to law school which incidentally is very close to my office to seek for reposting to another law office but lo and behold none of them accepted that advice. In fact I noticed that all of them were very grateful upon discovering that they will be have their externship in Maxwell Opara’s Chamber.”

According to him, the 18 Externs were admitted to the firm after the Managing Partner, Mrs Nnenna Maxwell and other lawyers in the office decided to accommodate them.

“So my office managing partner Evang.Barr.Mrs.Nnenna Maxwell together with the lawyers in the office advised that we should manage to accommodate all of them.”

According to the Abuja based Lawyer, the firm retained and trained the Externs in the areas of law office management, legal drafting, ethics of the legal profession, punctuality in court, client’s management etc. They also ensured that they were equipped with the necessary information and materials they need to succeed, describing it as a very interactive process.

Equally, the externs were motivated to aspire for success at the bar finals. Nothing that “since we started receiving and training students, none of them have fail Bar finals Exams.”

On Friday, the 27th of May, 2022 the 18 Externs finally passed out in preparation of going back to the law school for their Bar Final Exam.

During the passing out party organized for them by the office, the externs were advised to work hard, remain focused and be diligent and resilient in the pursuit of their legal career.

The firm also appreciated the Council of Legal Education for finding the office worthy of hosting the law school externs.

“May we express our happiness to the council of legal education for finding our office worthy, fit and proper for LAW STUDENTS EXTERNS. The students for this year were very vibrant and articulated especially during our moot court trials and debate, it was interactive all through. We equally prayed for them to emerge successfully in their Bar finals all to the glory of God.”
