Idawulo Sunday of Byazhin, Kubwa was convicted for attempt to commit offence to wit theft, contrary to Section 95 of the penal code. The police prosecutor, DSP Egwu Anthony, told the court that one Aliyu Aboyimi attached to force headquarters, Abuja, on October 4, complained at the Kubwa Police Station, how the accused, on same date, criminally entered into the Cherubim and Seraphim church premises located at Arab Road with intent to steal. He said the accused was however caught and arrested while attempting to escape. When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one month imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with an option of N5,000 fine. Similarly, a 30-year-old mechanic has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be stolen. Mohammed Abdullahi of Life Camp was convicted for having in possession of property reasonably suspected to have been stolen, an offence contrary to Section 317 of the penal code. The police prosecutor, DSP Egwu Anthony, told the court that one Idoko Mathias of Dei-dei, Abuja, on October 6, complained at the Kubwa Police Station, of how the accused was found with two phones, a Techno M7 and Nokia 205, reasonably suspected to be stolen. He said the accused could not give satisfactory account of how he got them. When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to six months imprisonment each by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with an option of N25,000 fine.]]>
