A candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Okey Leo Ohagba, Esq., has congratulated the leadership and members of Egbe Amofin O’odua on the occasion of the association’s 2026 Osun National Conference holding in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Ohagba, a former 1st Assistant General Secretary of the NBA, in a goodwill message, warmly felicitated the Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN-led Executive Committee, the Planning Committee, and the entire membership of Egbe Amofin O’odua.

He described the theme of the conference, “Advancing Constitutional Democracy, Accountability and Responsible Governance: The Role of Lawyers,” as timely and relevant to Nigeria’s current democratic challenges.

According to him, the country’s democracy cannot thrive on rhetoric alone, but requires the active and courageous intervention of lawyers who are willing to defend constitutional governance and hold public institutions accountable.

“At this critical intersection of our socio-political history, our democracy cannot thrive on mere rhetoric. It requires the active, courageous intervention of legal minds who refuse to sit on the sidelines,” Ohagba stated.

He said the decision of Egbe Amofin O’odua to gather legal minds to deliberate on constitutional democracy, accountability and responsible governance was a reaffirmation of the legal profession’s duty to defend justice and demand responsive governance.

Ohagba expressed confidence that the lawyers assembled at the conference would produce practical ideas and blueprints capable of strengthening the Bar, promoting administrative integrity and encouraging ethical leadership in Nigeria.

“I am entirely confident that the rich legal minds assembled will fashion out pragmatic blueprints to steer our Bar and our nation toward a path of lasting administrative integrity and ethical leadership,” he said.

He prayed that the deliberations at the conference would yield positive outcomes for the Bar, the legal profession and the country.

Ohagba concluded his message with his campaign slogan, “Let’s Innovate,” reaffirming his commitment to an innovative Bar and a future-focused NBA secretariat.
