*As Kunle Counters Allegation, Releases Proof

An Abuja based lawyer, A. A Samuel, Esq has written a letter of protest to the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) challenging the validity of the clearance of Mr. Kunle Edun to contest for Welfare Secretary in the forthcoming NBA National Elections.

This is contained in a letter dated 14th day of July, 2020 which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

The letter contends that Mr. Kunle Edun is not qualified for him to have been cleared to contest the election by the dint of Section 8(3)(II) of the NBA Constitution, 2015.

He contended that Kunle has never been a Branch Chairman, Secretary or NEC Rep prior to the year 2020 which is a condition precedent for one to contest and he has never been coopted by any NBA administration.

Furthermore, he contended that Kunle submitted false information to the ECNBA that he has been a NEC member which was the same thing that was submitted to the 2018 ECNBA.

Hence, he called the ECNBA to verify the information that was submitted and request an evidence of appointment by Mr. Kunle Edun.

Below reads A. A Samuel’s letter

Speaking with Kunle on the allegation, he informed TheNigerialawyer(TNL) that he has been a Co-opted NEC member since 2017, during the administration of the AB Mahmoud.

Kunle went on to furnish us with NEC Bundle dated 28th February – 2nd March 2018 which was held in Kwara State Government Banquet Hall, Opposite Government House as well as the 2018 NEC bundle that was held on the 23rd of November, 2017 At Le’meridien Ibom Hotels & Golf Resort, Uyo Akwa-Ibom State, establishing the fact that he has been a NEC member.

There his name appeared on NO 28 as a Co-opted NEC member.
