A tragic auto crash has claimed the lives of Benue lawyer Stephanie Angbiandoo, her husband Victor Angbian Tyohemba, an accountant by profession and their two children, Agnes Ngohide and Immaculate Sesughter. The accident occurred on January 4, 2025, along the Akwanga-Abuja road.

The family was returning to Abuja after celebrating the festive season in Benue when the tragic incident occurred. They were laid to rest on Monday, January 6, in Igbor, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to a heartfelt tribute from a family friend, Ngutswen Terna Timothy, Victor had called him on Friday to discuss their planned return to Abuja. The family had been residing in Aso Estate, Abuja, where they were known for their humility and friendly nature.

The deceased lawyer, Stephanie Angbiandoo, was an alumna of the Faculty of Law, Benue State University, Makurdi. The tragic loss has left family members, colleagues, and friends in deep shock and mourning.

The funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Igbor, Benue State, where the community gathered to pay their final respects to the family.

Mr Emmanuel Tyohemba, the immediate elder brother of Victor Tyohemba who died in a motor accident alongside his wife and two children, has narrated how he received the news of the accident that claimed the lives of his brother and the family while on transit after the New Year celebration.

While speaking with our correspondent in a telephone chat on Tuesday, Tyohemba said the family of four who had come home for Christmas and New Year celebrations was returning to Abuja on Saturday when their vehicle was involved in an accident leading to their deaths.

Narrating further, Tyohemba said, “The family left Makurdi in a commercial vehicle on Saturday to Abuja while I also left on Sunday to my station in Zaria, Kaduna State.

“Throughout Saturday, we didn’t hear from him and his family and we tried his number and that of his wife but none connected. So, the following day, Sunday, I tried to connect with him again but no response.

“So, I tried to contact people to know which park in Makurdi they boarded the vehicle to Abuja until someone told me that a bus going to Abuja on Saturday was involved in an accident.

“I later got the contact of the manager of the transport company who confirmed the accident to me. So, I went to the accident scene, retrieved their bodies and brought them home at Igbor.”

Tyohemba, who said his brother was 37 years old as of the time of the accident, added that their remains had been interred in their Igbor family house on Monday shortly after they were brought back from the accident scene.
