A Kaduna-base law firm, Moonlight Attorneys, on Monday, dragged one Yusha’a Abdullahi to a Shari’a court in Kaduna for allegedly refusing to settle legal fee of N100,000.

Counsel to the complainant, Atiku Abdulra’uf, stated that the defendant had requested for service from the complainant, in which the amount was mutually agreed to be paid as service fee.

He explained that after the service had been rendered, the defendant refused to settle the fees in spite of all entreaties, hence the decision by the complainant to approach the court.

“We want this court to assist us retrieve N100,000 as service fee from Alhaji Yusha’u,” he said.

On his part, the defendant said he knew of the said amount, but needed a ‘discount’ to enable him settle same, as soon as practicable.

However, the Judge, Malam Nuhu Falalu, declined to oblige the request for discount, adding that since the defendant had admitted to owing his service provider, the N100,000 must be paid to the complainant,on or before April 4.

He ordered that the defendant be remanded in court pending when a reliable surety comes for his bail. NAN
