The Federal Government on Tuesday said a lawsuit filed against the execution of the 3,050MW Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project at the International Court of Arbitration has been withdrawn.

Chairman of the Project Delivery Committee, Mr Farouk Yabo, made the disclosure at a sensitisation meeting on the project organised by the Taraba State Government and the Federal Ministry of Power in Abuja.

Yabo identified the lawsuit as one of the factors that had stalled the power project, 40 years after it was initiated in 1980.

He added that the legal issue had finally been resolved, following the withdrawal of the case.

“The person that took the Federal Government to the International Court of Arbitration has already withdrawn the case last week,” he said.

He noted that the said plaintiff had reached an agreement with the government.
