*Says Governor Has Indicated His Commitment To The Betterment Of Citizens Under His Care

The President of the Law Students Association (LAWSAN), Michael Arinze, has applauded the payment of bursary to 165 law school students of Enugu extraction by the state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Recall that on the 17th of May, 2022, the LAWSAN President, Arinze had appealed to state governors to offer grants, bursary and scholarship for their indigenous Law Students.

Barely three weeks after that plea, the Executive Governor of Enugu State on the 10th of June, 2022 approved the disbursement of bursary sums to 165 indigenes of the state currently studying at the Nigerian law school.

Confirming the disbursement of the bursary to the law students, the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Scholarship Board, Uche Levis Abonyi, in a statement explained that each of the beneficiaries received the sum of N100,000 from the state government, through his office.

Reacting to this development, the LAWSAN President in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer thanked the Governor for this gesture saying he has shown “his great zeal and interest in human capital development by offering Bursary to 165 Enugu State Law Students in the Nigeria Law School.”

He said: “On behalf of all Law Students in Nigeria, I wholeheartedly appreciate and commend the efforts of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, for what is unarguably a demonstration of charity, goodwill and philanthropy. It gladdens me much more to consider the fact that the beneficiaries of this grants are persons who otherwise would not have alternative means of financial support.”

According to him, the Governor has, by the singular action, indicated his commitment to the betterment of all citizens under his care. “He continues to exemplify true generosity and responsiveness to the plight of every person within the State. This act of his will be particularly memorable, especially in the lives of those positively affected by this grant.” The statement noted.
