*Congratulates leadership and planning committee

A member of the NBA Welfare Committee, Auta Nyada Esq has wholeheartedly congratulated the leadership and members of the NBA Abuja Bar (Unity Bar) on the auspicious occasion of her law week, 2022.

Expressing his delight to be given the platform to speak about the Unity Bar’s law week, 2022, Nyada Esq said;

I am humbled, pleased and elated at the opportunity to make my views known in this year’s UNITY BAR Law Week.

Law Weeks are essentially put together to enhance capacity building for colleagues under a relaxed atmosphere, and it is against this background that I congratulate the Leadership of the UNITY BAR and the Planning Committee for keeping up with the age old tradition of our noble profession.

Hailing the leadership of the UNITY BAR for a well thought out theme, Mr. Auta Nyada Esq opined that the legal profession places challenges on the duty of a lawyer to be the hope to the common man, as well as champion the cause of the oppressed. In his words;

The theme of this year’s Law Week: “Credible Electoral process, Rule of law, Leadership and Good Governance”, is apposite and clearly reflects that the Leadership of the Unity Bar is very much alive to the real issues plaguing our Association and indeed our dear Country Nigeria.

The fact is that our profession places very challenging responsibilities on us to champion the cause of the common man and the oppressed against exploitation, oppression and illegality.

Still addressing the significance of the topic of the law week, he opined that: It is beyond argument that we live in times when good governance is in short supply and our electoral process is far from efficient and as such it is my hope that this year’s Law Week will interrogate the electoral process we have at the moment and provoke our thoughts to possible solutions for the myriad of challenges our dear country is faced with, so that, at the end of this year’s Law Week, we will live up to our calling, and become trail blazers.

He went on further to admonish his learned colleagues that in the process of carrying out their duties to the common man, they must not neglect that duties to other relevant institutions and practices, despite them being challenging. His statement read in part thus:

We must ensure that in courageously carrying out our duty to our Country, we do not also forget our duties to the Profession, Courts and the public in facilitating Credible Electoral process, Rule of law, Leadership and Good Governance.

These noble duties are, no doubt, challenging but with determination, strength of purpose and unwavering faith in promoting the good cause of humanity, victory shall be ours.
