The NBA Benin Branch A.K.A the Lion Bar has kicked off its law week today, June 13th, 2022. The event which is tagged: “Security: Panacea for National growth”, is expected to hold until 17th June, 2022.
Remarking about the law week, in a congratulatory message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, a candidate for the NBA President, Jonathan Gunu Taidi Esq has congratulated the leadership and members of the Lion Bar.
Reacting to the general theme whilst congratulating the branch, Jonathan Gunu Taidi Esq said: “The Lion Bar chose a great theme: “Security: Penacea for National Growth” and I congratulate the organisers, leaders and members of the branch on this auspicious occasion of the 2022 Bar Week.”
Still commenting on the significance of the theme to societal agenda, he continued thus: “Security is a condition precedent to every human endeavour and its absence, known as insecurity, is the albatross of our society. This critical discourse, on this occasion, affords us a unique opportunity to re-examine the existential threats to security of lives and property which is the primary purpose of governance.”
Jonathan Gunu Taidi Esq went on to express his belief that the legal profession and the nation has a role to play in discovering the solution to insecurity in Nigeria. According to him: “It is expected that the legal community and the nation will discover the solution we seek from the outcome of this law week which promises to be like no other.
He expressed his eagerness for the resolutions arrived after deliberations on the theme as to him it was a step towards peaceful coexistence in a secured nation. In his words:
“We eagerly await the resolutions which we hope will signal a new beginning for peaceful and purposeful co-existence and, like the roar of a lion, clear all the obstacles along its path.”
