Who will do the honours?
Who will bring this ship to shore?
As we collectively pitch for Osama –
It is so near, yet so far.

History beckons on us
Who will step forward?
In a group – 200-strong
It is one for all and all for one

So, if laggards your seek –
You bark up the wrong tree;
As there are none in this Class –
We are always up to par

As we inch ever closer to the target;
This is when we should be most strident;
Nearer – and nearer still!
Surely, charity does not kill

Let’s remember that – as ever:
Better late than never;
It’s not over till it’s over;
And, God loves a cheerful giver

As for the goal of it all –
Here’s wishing one of our own
God’s divine touch
So that he returns home –

With a new lease on life;
Re-born, re-purposed, and re-focused –
On making the best use of time –
By henceforth walking with God!

So, Godspeed, Osama;
Life is still within your gasp;
Hold on with all your might;
Remember: he who dares, wins

You’ve dared to come this far –
Against the odds – and every obstacle;
This surely will go the way of the others;
You can’t quit now – and you won’t!

As for us – his friends and classmates;
Beyond the gifts of cash –
Of greater value are our prayers
These should continue apace

So that we can bear eloquent testimony;
To that age-old aphorism;
That a friend in need –
Is a friend indeed!
